President Ersin Tatar attends the parade in Lefkoşa as part of the Republic Day celebrations

As part of the 98th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, a parade and a band concert were held in Dereboyu, Lefkoşa. President Ersin Tatar also joined the procession.  


“The important thing is to exist together; to live with our dignity”  

In his speech at the event, President Tatar noted that the Turkish Cypriot people, inspired by the struggle of Atatürk and his comrades, have a free and independent state and maintain their existence on these territories in cooperation with Turkey.  

Expressing that it is important for young people to recognise the value of celebrating the Republic Day, President Tatar paid tribute to Atatürk and his comrades who waged the great struggle for freedom and independence.

President Tatar said: “The important thing is to live with dignity and to continuously support the struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people as part of the great Turkish nation, with the sovereignty, freedom, independence and the love of flag."
