President Ersin Tatar congratulates Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce on becoming an observer member of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry

“I welcome this very important development”

The Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce (KTTO) has become an observer member of the Union of Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UTCCI) -- which President Ersin Tatar has stated is “another important development for the TRNC".
The KTTO membership was announced following the first General Assembly of the UTCCI that was hosted by The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) in İstanbul.

The written statement by President Ersin Tatar reads as follows:

“I congratulate the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce on becoming an observer member of the Union of Turkic Chambers and Commerce and Industry of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS).

I especially wish to commend KTTO President Mr. Turgay Deniz and his colleagues for their ardous efforts and vision which has yielded this achievement. This is another very important development for the TRNC.

I wholeheartedly welcome the start of TRNC-based professional associations becoming observer members of organisations affiliated with the OTS, which follows the historical TRNC observer membership to the OTS at the summit that was held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, in November 2022.

I commend and thank Mr. Rıfat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) for his significant support and passion over the years in defending the rights of the Turkish Cypriot People across different platforms, the latest being the observer membership of the KTTO to the UTCCI.  Furthermore, I congratulate Mr. Hisarcıklıoğlu on his re-election as the President of TOBB at their General Assembly held on April 7, 2023.

Whilst emphasising the importance of this development, I wish to express my gratitude to all the OTS member states, and especially to the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who enabled the observer membership of the TRNC at the OTS.   These tangible developments have not come about from coincidence, but due to our new vision and efforts for the international community to reaffirm the inherent rights, sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot People, and to strengthening our State."
