President Ersin Tatar congratulates The Honourable Natalie Suleyman MP on becoming the new Cabinet Minister in the State of Victoria, Australia

“I commend The Honourable Natalie Suleyman for becoming the first person of Turkish Cypriot origin and first female Muslim Minister in Australia.”

President Ersin Tatar has congratulated The Honourable Natalie Suleyman MP on becoming the new Minister of Youth, Small Business and Veterans, in the Parliament of Victoria, Australia.
 
The President sent a letter to Ms Suleyman, who served as Deputy Speaker in the Legislative Assembly in the State of Victoria, congratulating her on becoming a Cabinet Minister,  where he stated:
 
“It is with great pride that I note your continued success, merited by your compassion for diverse inclusivity in all levels of government and sense of service, having now become the first person of Turkish Cypriot origin to have been sworn in as a Cabinet Minister – and in doing so also became the first Muslim Minister in Australia.”
 
Calling the success of Ms Suleyman a “historical achievement,” the President said her  accomplishment  shall be an “inspiration to the Australian Turkish Cypriots and set an example to other women who are aspiring to succeed in politics and serve the people of Australia”.
 
Emphasising that there is a significant number of Turkish Cypriots who live in Australia who have “very strong links to the TRNC,” the President wished Ms Suleyman success in Office and asked her to convey his regards to the Turkish Cypriots living in the State of Victoria.
