President Ersin Tatar has conveyed his condolences to the Turkish nation, after the bodies were found of the 13 civilians who had been abducted by the PKK terrorist organisation.

President Tatar stated:

“As our heroic Turkish Security Forces successfully completed its Eagle Claw– 2 operation in the Gara region in northern Iraq on February 10  against the elements of the PKK terrorist organisation, the area in question is now under control.

We have been saddened to learn that during the search carried out in the region, the lifeless bodies of 13 civilian citizens, who had been abducted by the treacherous terror group, were found inside a cave.

I condemn this act of barbarism and treachery undertaken by the terrorist organisation and its supporters, and I send my sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families, loved ones and the Turkish nation on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot people. May the 13 martyrs rest in peace.
