President Ersin Tatar has met with İlham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan
President Ersin Tatar, who is participating in the 2025 Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF), has met with İlham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Making a statement following the meeting that was held at the Nest Convention Centre, President Tatar stated that he had met with President Aliyev last in the Republic of Azerbaijan during his official visit to the country.
“I am very happy to have met President Aliyev, this time in the Republic of Türkiye, where we were able to discuss different issues in our meeting that lasted approximately 40 minutes,” President Tatar said.
President Tatar said he had expressed his gratitude to President Aliyev on his recent statements supporting the formal recognition of the TRNC by the international community and the plight of the Turkish Cypriot People, which he recently made at an international panel titled “Facing the New World Order”, held at ADA University in Baku in response to a question put to him by Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Işıksal, Special Advisor on International Relations and Diplomacy to the President.
President Tatar added: “President İlham Aliyev has underlined the great importance he places on the Organisation of Turkic States, and the need for brotherly Turkic states to deepen their relations with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. He has stated that a different situation has emerged with the European Union forging relations with some of these states, and has stated that this will not become an impediment to the workings and relations in the Organisation of Turkic States.”
"We also discussed increasing the number of students and tourists between the two countries, as well as mutual visits by young people and investors, in order to strengthen the ties between the two States,” President Tatar said.
