President Ersin Tatar holds a teleconference with Mario Nava
Following a telephone conversation with the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Relations and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell on Jan 18th, 2021, President Ersin Tatar held a teleconference with Mario Nava, Director General for Structural Reform Support.
At the teleconference meeting with Mario Nava and his team of experts, President Tatar discussed in detail the issue of halloumi registration by the EU, which is one of the most important export products of our country, as well as the issue of TRNC trade to the European market.
The President also brought up the issue of delivering the reserved vaccines for the Turkish Cypriot people by the European Union to our country as soon as possible. Commission officials stated that the vaccines allocated by the EU for the Turkish Cypriot side will continue to be delivered gradually and within this scope, 1000 more vaccines will be delivered on 28 January 2021.
President Tatar also expressed Turkish Cypriot side’s vision with regards to the 5 + UN informal meeting and shared Turkish Cypriot stance with the EU officials about cooperation on hydrocarbon resources, which are accepted by all parties as belonging to both sides.
President Tatar will receive the EU delegation within the framework of their envisaged visit to the island in the first half of February.
