PRESIDENT ERSIN TATAR ISSUED A MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCES ON THE 29TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE KHOJALY MASSACRE

“We are commemorating the 29th anniversary of the genocide carried out in Khojaly in Azerbaijan's Upper Karabakh region by Armenian security forces, on February 26, 1992.

Whilst  613 of our Azeri Turkish brothers and sisters, including elderly, women and children, were massacred by the Armenian forces,  which is a black stain in humanity and world  history, thousands more had been taken as prisoners and hundreds abducted.  There has been no news at all from our abducted Azeri brothers and sisters to date.

I renew the damnation of this terrible massacre which will never be forgotten. On behalf of myself and the Turkish Cypriot people, I express our heartfelt condolences to our brethren Azerbaijan people and commemorate with respect our Azeri brothers and sisters who have lost their lives in this massacre.

Whilst I believe wholeheartedly that brethren Azerbaijan people will succeed in their right and sacred cause relating to Nagorno-Karabakh, I wish once again to commemorate with respect the martyrs fallen in the Nagorno-Karabakh operation and share the pain of the Azerbaijan people with my most sincere feelings and condolences and reiterate that the Turkish Cypriot people are always in solidarity with them. “
