President Ersin Tatar issues a message on the occasion of Veterans Day:

“Our greatest responsibility towards our veterans, martyrs and children is to glorify, develop and protect our state”

President Ersin Tatar's Veterans Day message is as follows:

“Today we remember with great enthusiasm and pride the anniversary of the day when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was given the title of 'Gazi' by the Turkish Grand National Assembly on September 19, 1921, as 'Veterans Day', together with the Turkish nation.

Throughout history, the Turkish nation established states as a result of the struggles of the holy martyrs and veterans who fought for the homeland, protected their flag, freedom and future under all circumstances.

Today, Turkish Cypriots protect their sovereignty and freedom in their own state, with the awareness of the heritage inherited from their ancestors.

In the struggle for independence, sovereignty and freedom that has been going on for more than a century in Cyprus, the Turkish Cypriot people achieved freedom and peace with the Cyprus Peace Operation carried out by the Guarantor country and the Motherland, the Republic of Türkiye.

Our greatest responsibility towards our veterans, martyrs and children is to glorify, develop and protect our state.

With these feelings and thoughts, we commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, our Leader Dr. Fazıl Küçük and our Founding President Rauf Raif Denktaş, our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for an honourable life during the years of national struggle, and our veterans who passed away, with mercy and respect. I express my gratitude to our surviving veterans and wish them a healthy life.”
