President Ersin Tatar makes an on-site inspection of the fire in the Avtepe area in Karpaz
President Ersin Tatar has visited the scene where the fire broke out earlier today in the Elişi area between the villages of Avtepe and Kuruova in the İskele region, and made an on-site inspection.

President Tatar received information that firefighting teams, a military helicopter, Forestry Department personnel and locals intervened in the fire that was brought under control following prompt and intensive efforts that lasted approximately two hours.
Speaking to BRT during his visit to the area, President Tatar said that he had received a briefing on the status of the fire, adding: "I made my way here as soon as I heard of the fire which was apparently ongoing due to strong winds. According to information now being given to me, the wildfire has been brought under control, which has made me happy. I pay tribute to and congratulate the response teams -- who have experiences from previous fires -- for their speedy and coordinated response. All units and facilities are being utilised to the fullest extent. I wish the best for everybody in the region."
The President also warned on the need to be careful and act responsibly, particularly during the summer months.
