President Ersin Tatar offers support to help fight the ongoing wildfire in South Cyprus
President Ersin Tatar has offered assistance to help fight the ongoing wildfire in South Cyprus.
The statement of President Ersin Tatar reads as follows:
"We are deeply saddened to learn that numerous settlements, particularly in the villages of the Limassol region, have had to be evacuated due to a rapidly spreading wildfire that broke out earlier today and remains out of control.
As the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, we are closely monitoring the unfolding situation. In the spirit of humanitarian responsibility, we have expressed our readiness to support the firefighting efforts against this serious threat to both human life and the environment.
Our offer to assist in the firefighting efforts has been communicated to the United Nations. At the same time, my Special Representative and the Coordinator of the Technical Committees have been in direct contact with their Greek Cypriot counterparts and have informed them that equipment, personnel, and technical support can be provided through the relevant technical committee mechanism, if needed.
I extend my heartfelt wishes and sincerely hope that the devastating fire is brought under control as soon as possible, and that the affected regions recover swiftly."
