President Ersin Tatar participates in 3rd Caretta Caretta Festival held in Karşıyaka

President Ersin Tatar commended the organisers of the 3rd Caretta Caretta festival where he underlined the importance of social responsibility work and protecting the environment.
 
President Tatar took part in the festival that was held at the Karşıyaka beach which was organised by Lapta municipality, The National Trust for the Protection of the Environment and Cultural Heritage and Lefkoşa Lions Club. Also in attendance was Lapta mayor Mustafa Aktuğ, environmentalists, locals and children with special needs.
 
There were moments of excitement as all participants witnessed the emergence of newly hatched eggs and baby turtles – who were then carefully helped to the sea. Information was provided about the detection and protection of turtle nests that dot numerous beaches of the TRNC including that at Karşıyaka.
 
Addressing the event, President Tatar expressed his gratitude to the organisers for organising the festival, which also allowed everybody to witness such an important event in the life cycle of sea turtles.
 
President Tatar pointed out the importance of the work done to preserve the “beauties of our island in the eastern Mediterranean” and expressed his pleasure to see that these works are carried out sensitively in unity.
 
The President, underlining that the TRNC is a tourism island, said it is important to protect the environment and nature, and carrying out social responsibility work, in order to be able to pass on the “beauties provided by mother nature to future generations”.
 
Stating that children with special needs were also participating in the event, President Tatar paid tribute to the “remarkable work being conducted by the Presidential Committee on Persons with Disabilities Chairman Ahmet Akdeniz”. President Tatar said they attributed “special importance” to addressing the issue of removing obstacles in front of individuals with special needs.
 
Certificates of appreciation were presented to the participants and organisers for organising the event at the end of the festival.
