President Ersin Tatar participates in Near East University Science Awards Ceremony

“We are overcoming the unjust restrictions through scientific work”

President Ersin Tatar participated in the Near East University Science Awards Ceremony that was held at the Atatürk Culture and Congress Centre at the university in Lefkoşa.

The President paid tribute to the “innovative work” of scientists and students at Near East University (NEU) during his address at the ceremony, which is traditionally held annually to support scientific production.

At the sixth awards ceremony of its kind held by NEU, a total of seven awards were handed out, which were The Publication Award, Publication Honorary Award, Young Researcher Award and Young Researcher Encouragement Award, Most Influential Researcher Award, Best Academic Performance Award and Dr. Suat Günsel Science Award categories.    Certificates of appreciation were also presented to academics who represent NEU at various international scientific platforms, at congresses, conferences and symposiums.

"I extend my gratitude to the NEU family"
President Tatar commended the work of NEU academics and the “significant contributions” academics, scientists and students are making in this field".

“I wish to extend my gratitude to the NEU family and everybody for the exceptional contributions in the field of science, and for representing the TRNC in this field in other parts of the world,” the President said.  “The existence of the TRNC and of Turkish Cypriots are also being promoted globally, despite the unjust restrictions we are facing, through the work of scientific production.”

"Devoted efforts in scientific and technological advancements"
President Tatar said: "I am watching with great pleasure the achievements and the contributions in science and technology by the NEU. I cannot emphasise enough the importance of continuing to develop in the field of science which has overcome the unjust restrictions imposed on the Turkish Cypriot People.”

Stating his appreciation to the devoted efforts of the university in scientific and technological advancements, the President added that “NEU has accumulated many successes and achievements in different fields which is commendable in the name of the TRNC. I wish for these successes to  continue and for the work in the field of science to be continued and developed further”.

President Tatar drew attention to the importance of the “intensification of scientific studies” in the TRNC, which he said is “an education haven”, and he paid tribute to the “fantastic contributions and scientific studies by students who have chosen to study in the TRNC from other parts of the world, in order to contribute to scientific development to serve  humanity”.
