President Ersin Tatar has participated in the opening ceremony of the Girne Tourism Festival 2024 where he stated that the TRNC tourism is continuing to develop with the contributions of relevant stakeholders and is in the process of becoming a renowned tourism brand.
 
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival that also formally inaugurated the newly refurbished Girne Ancient Harbour on Saturday (April 20), President Tatar stated that the TRNC had a stand at the biggest internationally acclaimed tourism fairs – including the “International Travel Trade Show Berlin (ITB)” and the “World Travel Market” in London.
 
“The TRNC is being promoted successfully at these very important tourism and travel fairs,” President Tatar said, adding: “Our country is continuing to increase its brand value as a tourism destination internationally,”
 
President Tatar added that the TRNC will “continue to build on its reputation as a tourism destination, with more flights to the country from the Republic of Türkiye and direct flights expected in the future”.
 
Stating that the tourism sector “generates the most income according to the figures,” President Tatar stressed that the “brand value of tourism continues to increase with the support of the governments and the Republic of Türkiye”.
 
President Tatar pointed out the importance of the work carried out by Cyprus Turkish Travel Agents' Union President, Orhan Tolun, and the Cyprus Turkish Hoteliers Association President, Dimağ Çağıner, and said “investments in hotels are continuing to increase in the TRNC”.
 
Stating that an environment of trust in the country affects tourism investments positively, President Tatar stated that TRNC is an “important tourism centre in the eastern Mediterranean with its historical and natural beauties”.
 
President Tatar congratulated the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, Fikri Ataoğlu, and the relevant institutions and organisations that contributed to the opening of the Girne Ancient Harbour, and emphasised that the Port is very important to the country's economy, tourism and culture.
