President Ersin Tatar received our national swimmer Doğukan Ulaç, who will compete in the 33rd Samsung Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race, the organisation where the Turkish Olympic Committee brings together more than 2,000 swimmers from around the world in İstanbul. Ender Yeşilyurt, President of the North Cyprus Aquatic Sports Federation, coaches Mehmet Gürcenk, Osman Akkuş and Presidency Sports Advisor Sertaç Bozatlı were also present.

 

 

“Our Athletes are our Pride”


President Ersin Tatar commended the sportsmen for their great successes, adding that this is a “source of pride for the TRNC. . .as you are representing us internationally in different competitions despite the unjust sports isolations imposed against us”.

President  Tatar thanked the families, athletes and coaches who provided the athletes with the support they needed and took an important responsibility in the success of the athletes and wished them continued success. Expressing the importance of the Olympic-size swimming pools in universities that allow our swimmers to train in winter as well as summer months, President Tatar expressed his belief that Doğukan Ulaç will represent the country with very good outcomes.

 

This year, three athletes from our country will represent the Bosphorus Cross-Continental Swimming Race, which will be held for the 33rd time by the Turkish Olympic Committee on Sunday, August 22. Doğukan Ulaç, who represented our country in the organisation which was chosen as the best open water race in the world when it was held for the 30th time in 2018, came first in the general classification. Doğukan Ulaç will represent our country for the 6th time, whilst Osman Akkuş will represent the country for the 29th time; Mert Türsoy is participating in competitions for the first time this year which will be attended by 2,800 athletes.
