President Ersin Tatar receives a delegation from the Union of International Democrats UK Youth

President Ersin Tatar met with a delegation of the Union of International Democrats  UK Youth.

The meeting, which was held at the TRNC Representative Office in London on Tuesday, was also attended by TRNC Representative Çimen Keskin.   Heading the delegation was Enes Şahin, who spoke about the issues facing the Turkish and Turkish Cypriot youth in the UK.

President Tatar stated that he was proud of seeing such a large turnout at the 6th Turkish Cypriot Cultural Festival that was organised by the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations (UK). He said the youth were making use of communication technology and were able to form networks with Turkish and Turkish Cypriot people worldwide.

“I was touched by the patriotism of our youth at the festival,” President Tatar said, adding that “such festivals strengthen the solidarity and togetherness of Turkish and Turkish Cypriot people, and promotes the existence of the TRNC and its people, our culture and traditions”.
President Tatar added that he placed great importance on the youth and their integration into UK society and said that there were significant numbers of Turkish Cypriots who were successful in different walks of life in the UK.

The President stated that he was putting forward a new two States policy as a basis for a settlement that is being fully supported by the Republic of Türkiye, on the basis of sovereign equality and equal international status of the two Sides in Cyprus. He said he was very happy to see the overwhelming support given to this vision by Turkish Cypriots living abroad.  The President wished the youth arm and its members success for the future.

Mr Şahin stated that they had also attended the 6th Turkish Cypriot Cultural Festival on Sunday and were always seeking ways to address the education and social issues facing the youth in the UK. Mr Şahin also thanked President Tatar on behalf of the administrative board for his time for the meeting.
