President Ersin Tatar received Suat Kılıç, former Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye and Deputy Chairman of the New Welfare Party together with his accompanying delegation.

Speaking during the meeting, President Tatar pointed to the continuing inhumane isolation of the Turkish Cypriot People, which is also preventing the youth from being able to participate in many prominent international sports tournaments.

President Tatar said: “Turkish Cypriot athletes and sports people cannot participate in many important sports tournaments internationally under their own flag, because of the inhumane embargoes. There is absolutely no justification for the Turkish Cypriot people to continue facing such restrictions in this day and age. I wish to thank Motherland Türkiye for the support given in voicing this injustice.”

Stating that TRNC-Türkiye relations continue to grow stronger in the age of communication, President Tatar added: “I am very happy that the relations between our two countries are very strong, and that the significant steps to be taken by Motherland Türkiye in the course of her future development will have positive reflections on the TRNC.”
