President Ersin Tatar received the Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, where he underlined the importance of the national struggle of the Turkish Cypriot People whilst “preserving their family unity, culture and traditions".
President Tatar, who stated that they “attach importance to the family structure” and "cultural values and traditions," thanked Türkiye for the "support given to the disabled, the elderly and children in terms of providing vital care and protection".
President Tatar said: “I am pleased to see the value given to the people in Türkiye through various schemes and hope that the opportunity will yield important benefits for the TRNC, that strengthens the existence of the Turkish Cypriots”.
Stating that “the challenges and difficulties have increased globally in the present times, which is the age of technology”, and that “preserving family unity and values in this era requires even more effort and work”, President Tatar added that the Turkish Cypriot People are "continuing their national struggle with these values, by preserving their family unity and culture".
Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, expressed her pleasure in paying a visit to the TRNC.
Göktaş stated that 2025 was declared the “Year of the Family” in Türkiye, and that they held consultations with the TRNC Minister of Labour and Social Security, Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, on cooperation in the areas of family, social services, women and children, so that the TRNC can also benefit from the schemes and projects in Türkiye.
Göktaş, who stated that she would attend the opening of the House of Love (Sevgi Evi) as part of her contacts in the TRNC, emphasised the importance of taking children entrusted to the state under protection.
Also participating in the meeting were the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Lefkoşa, Yasin Ekrem Serim, and Minister of Labour and Social Security, Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, and the Undersecretary of the Presidency, Okan Donangil.
