President Ersin Tatar took part in the Eid prayers at the Sinan Paşa Mosque in Gazimağusa, which has been opened for worship after many years






The President was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Energy Erhan Arıklı, Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Ali Murat Başçeri, Republic of Turkey Gazimağusa Consul General İlyas Çetin, National Unity Party Gazimağusa MP Sunat Atun, Cyprus Evkaf Foundation Administration General Director Prof. Dr. İbrahim F. Benter, and the Turkish Red Crescent Northern Cyprus Delegation Head Recep Günaydın. The Salat al-Eid (prayer) was performed in accordance with Covid-19 measures and social distancing.

In his statement to the press after the prayer, President Tatar congratulated the Eid of Ramadan (Eid al-fitr) of all TRNC people and said he was happy to have taken part in the Eid prayer at the Sinan Paşa Mosque in Gazimağusa, which has been opened for worship after many years.


Wishing everyone health, well-being, happiness and peace, President Tatar said, "Eid holidays are special, where resentments should be left in the past. It is necessary to pay attention to measures and social distancing and take precautions because of the pandemic period. Therefore, let us preserve our unity, solidarity and peace amongst ourselves by showing our respect and love to our elderly relatives and family members through the utilisation of communication facilities.”


Pointing out the importance of protecting our brotherhood, solidarity, unity and the continuation of maintaining our traditions in these lands as the people of the TRNC who have been fighting for many years, President Tatar stated that with the support of motherland Turkey, the Turkish Cypriots will continue their just struggle.


President Tatar welcomed the opening of the Taksim Mosque in İstanbul, adding that declaring it as a ‘sister mosque’ is on the agenda.

 



UNITY AND SOLIDARITY IS IMPORTANT FOR SURVIVAL AND OVERCOMING DIFFICULTES 


Wishing that with the vaccinations and everyone’s efforts to comply with the measures, the Covid-19 pandemic would be left behind, the President emphasised that unity and solidarity are important in the continuation of life, the development of the economy, the peace of our people and for overcoming the difficulties.

The President added: "It is our sincere wish to preserve the institutions and organisations of our state, to protect all our values, to believe, to embrace each other and to continue on our path with a strong TRNC. We are continuing our struggle by protecting our spirituality, culture and traditions.”




WE ARE PLEASED THAT THE SİNAN PAŞA MOSQUE HAS BEEN OPENED FOR WORSHIP

Stating that everyone is pleased that after many years, the Sinan Paşa Mosque, which has a historical importance, has been opened for worship, President Tatar congratulated the Eid al-Fitr of all the people in the TRNC and in Motherland Turkey and wished everyone good health and well-being.
