President Ersin Tatar visits Central Bank and states: “My duty also obliges me to be involved on economic matters”

President Ersin Tatar visited the Central Bank in Lefkoşa where he met with officials there.

During the meeting, the President referred to his previous studies and meetings with the Central Bank from during his terms as the Minister of Finance and Prime Minister.

President Tatar recalled “how efforts were made with the implementation of different ideas and opportunities” which “assisted different sectors that were negatively affected from especially the pandemic conditions”.
 
 
Pointing out that the initiatives of the Central Bank for the continuation of public finances and for private enterprises are important, President Tatar noted that there are currently financial deficits in the country, however these conditions are also in existence  in the United States, Europe and other countries. Stating that it is inevitable to have budget deficits despite the measures and efforts taken during the pandemic process in our country, President Tatar said that TRNC needs investments as a developing country.

The structure is maintained with the protocols signed with the Republic of Turkey, infrastructure works, project support, defence expenses and contributions to the public finances. These are the driving forces of the economy and that the development process is also experienced.
 
Stating that after the initiatives taken during the pandemic period through inoculation work, international students from abroad started to come to our country.  President Tatar said: “When I make a general evaluation as someone who has a background in finance,  I would like to express my belief that if we continue to manage these processes well, the main sectors of our country will begin to recover in a short time and that this amelioration will  overcome the public cost,” he said.

Noting that he appreciates the work carried out by the Minister of Finance and his undersecretary, President Tatar added: "I would like to express that my attention is to   evaluate the current process, to  examine the table in the best way and to evaluate how the process can be managed". The President stated that the Prime Minister and the relevant ministers continue their duties with the authority they have been given and that as the President, he  wants to share with the public that he will be more interested in economic issues in this process within the framework of his duty.

President Tatar stated that the work and the efforts will be shared with the new government and since there is no government at the moment, the Prime Minister and the relevant ministers will continue with their duties in accordance with the authority the President has given them.
