President Ersin Tatar has paid a visit to the Union of Engineers and Architects of the Turkic World in Ankara.
President Tatar was welcomed by the union President and Mayor of Mamak, Mr. Murat Köse,  and other officials.

President Tatar, who is also the Honorary President of the Union,  thanked Mr Köse for inviting him to visit the Ankara headquarters of the Union.

Making a statement during the visit, President Tatar stated that the TRNC was accepted as an observer member to the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) at the summit in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, in November 2022.

“Officials, ministers, and establishments of the TRNC are being invited to and participating in important international summits of the OTS,” President Tatar said, adding: “I wish to thank you for the importance you place to the TRNC and the promotion of our country, as well as the struggle of the Turkish Cypriot People to have formal acceptance and voice in the world with their State.”

Stating that “negotiations on a federal basis for a settlement between the two equal Sides in Cyprus, which were held for more than half-a-century, have been exhausted,” President Tatar said: “We are today putting forward a fresh new policy and vision, which is that the Cyprus issue can be settled through the existing two States, that is a reality, that can co-exist as two friendly neighbouring States.  New and formal negotiations can be started once the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot Side is reaffirmed and acknowledged. This is a policy that is fully supported by the Republic of Türkiye.  The President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has made a fresh new call for the recognition of the TRNC by the international community and the forging of diplomatic, political and economic links with our country, during his address at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York last month. I express my thanks to President Erdoğan for this very important call, which is a continuation of his similar call at the UN General Assembly last year. We are seeking justice for the Turkish Cypriot People, who continue to be under isolation. There is no point in heading down the same dead-end road in negotiations for a federal basis, which has been rejected repeatedly by the Greek Cypriot Side because of their hegemonic mentality and their unacceptable obsession that sees Cyprus as a Hellenic Island.”

President Tatar stated that the TRNC – a geostrategic Turkish State in the eastern Mediterranean, is the homeland of the Turkish Cypriot People.  “The TRNC is also the most southern Turkic State and Turkish Cypriot People are proudly defending the continuation of the presence of the Turkish nation in the eastern Mediterranean.  The new policy is therefore very important for the development of the TRNC,” President Tatar said, adding: “I wish for the projects to be implemented by the Union to be successful for Türkiye and the TRNC.   Thank you for inviting me to the Union headquarters in Ankara today.”

President Tatar was accompanied by the TRNC Ambassador to Ankara, İsmet Korukoğlu.
