President Tatar has said that more Covid-19 vaccine doses will arrive in the TRNC as Turkey continues to receive the vaccines.

The President made the remarks during a televised programme on the newly opened Kıbrıs Objective Web TV – whom he also congratulated and wished success, stating that “impartial broadcasting will benefit the media of the TRNC”.


"MORE VACCINE DOSES WILL COME TO TRNC"

Emphasising that 140,000 vaccine doses have so far come to TRNC from motherland Turkey, President Tatar stated that there is a great demand for vaccines on a global scale, and after the delivery of new vaccines to Turkey,  more doses of vaccines will be forwarded to the TRNC.  Noting that the EU has sent the TRNC 30,000 vaccine doses, whilst sending South Cyprus 500,000 vaccine doses, the President stated that this disproportinate situation is unfair.   

Expressing that the use of the electronic wristband application is an important control mechanism, President Tatar stated that this system is a significant step to paving the way to opening up the tourism sector from closed circuit tourism.  The President also said that discussions are also being held on double vaccine and double PCR testing for departures and arrivals to the country.



“WE HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN MANAGING THE OUTBREAK”

Noting that the Covid-19 pandemic has been successfully managed in the TRNC despite various difficulties, the President pointed out the importance of continuing to implement the necessary measures without compromise, and stated that steps will continue to be taken to protect public health. He expressed his belief that the devoted services of healthcare professionals and investments in the Emergency Situation Hospital and other health infrastructure were completed during his tenure as the Prime Minister, which I believe will prevent the pandemic”.

President Tatar noted that decisive steps for economic recovery following the pandemic period and pointed out that the fruits of this will be reaped in the future.
