President Tatar meets with business people in Baku

President Ersin Tatar has met with business people of Azerbaijan during his visit to Baku, where he paid tribute to them for their interest and support to the TRNC.

Stating that the TRNC has always shown solidarity with Motherland Türkiye and brother country Azerbaijan, President Tatar said that Türkiye, Azerbaijan, TRNC, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan are all descendants from the Oghuz tribes.

“We are all children of the great Turkish nation,” President Tatar said. “We share the same culture, national values and spirituality which have been passed down from generation to generation over thousands of years.”

Pointing out the importance of realising economic and commercial, tourism, construction, agriculture and education projects between the TRNC and Azerbaijan, President Tatar has stated that there is “very valuable and important work that can be carried out to further develop the ties between our countries, which is what we have been talking about at different levels during this historic visit”.

Stating that there is a “bond of love and affection”, President Tatar stated that people who share the same culture and national values are able to establish closer contact with each other. He pointed out that it was not easy to visit Azerbaijan in the past due to the political issues, adding: “In fact, at present, there are at least 50 flights operating between Baku to different parts of the Republic of Türkiye.  I believe that flights from the Republic of Azerbaijan to the TRNC can operate via Türkiye.”

President Tatar explained that there are “successful universities in the TRNC,” and said “there are 35,000 students studying in our universities, which includes students from the Republic of Türkiye and Azerbaijan. . . however President Aliyev stated that there should be at least 3,000 students studying in TRNC-based universities, which I hope will be a goal we will work towards”.
President Tatar stated that if 3,000 students from Azerbaijan studied at universities in TRNC, this will contribute greatly to the TRNC economy and at the same time strengthen the ties between the two countries through the communication and interaction between young people.

President Tatar stated that “we owe it to our countries and nation, and it is the duty and obligation of all of us to strengthen the ancient and historical ties between us and carry them forward through various projects”.

President Tatar said that "President Aliyev has also expressed his wish to see more visits from the TRNC to Azerbaijan," adding that "we discussed many different projects across different fields".

President Tatar thanked the business people and the people of Azerbaijan for their hospitality.
