President Tatar replied to the Greek Cypriot Administration Leader, Nicos Anastasiades:

"THE GREEK-GREEK CYPRIOT DUO SHOULD RENOUNCE THE IDEAL OF NEO-ENOSIS"

President Ersin Tatar answered the latest claims made by the Greek Cypriot Leader, Nicos Anastasiadis, who is trying to distort the facts in Cyprus and deceive the world public opinion. President Tatar's statement is as follows:

"While the attempts to start the negotiations on the Cyprus issue continue, we are monitoring the aggressive and provocative statements of the Greek Cypriot leader, Nicos Anastasiadis. Instead of following a positive attitude and keeping the dialogue paths open, Mr. Anastasiades has been making false accusations and insulting statements against the Turkish side. Mr. Anastasiades described our solution proposal based on the existence of two sovereign equal states, which is also supported by Turkey, the largest and most powerful country in the region, and which has had a great impact in the international arena, as a "neo-Ottoman vision".

These accusations and false claims are unacceptable. When we look at the realities in Cyprus, we see that with the ideal of "neo-enosis," the Greek-Greek Cypriot duo want to make Cyprus a mandated state of Hellenism. The enosis riots of 1821, 1931, the 1963 Bloody Christmas attacks and the Greek Cypriot-Greek fascist coup of 15 July 1974 are the clearest and undeniable proofs of this.

My advice to the Leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration, Anastasiades, is to abandon tense statements and unrealistic claims, and to keep the path of dialogue open. It should be noted once again that the most realistic solution for the benefit of Cyprus and the region is a solution based on reality that exists which is the existence of two sovereign equal states.
