President Tatar visits house of MHP Founder and late Chairman Alparslan Türkeş in Lefkoşa

On the anniversary of the death of Alparslan Türkeş, the founder and late Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) in Turkey, President Ersin Tatar visited the home where the late leader was born and grew up in Lefkosa.




“ALPARSLAN TÜRKEŞ ALWAYS HAD SPECIAL INTEREST IN CYPRUS” 

President Tatar said that “Alparslan Türkeş was a very important Turkish intellect and statesman, who was born in Lefkoşa and always maintained an interest in Cyprus due to his Turkish Cypriot origin.”   He added that Türkeş was a leader who provided great services in the nationalist front, and underlined that he is still remembered with love and appreciation today.

President Tatar pointed out that the services provided by Alparslan Türkeş will always be remembered.


TWO PEOPLE, TWO SEPARATE STATES

Pointing out that the stage reached in the Cyprus issue today necessitates settlement to be based on the cooperation of two states living side by side in Cyprus based on sovereign equality, President Ersin Tatar said that Alparslan Türkeş was a person who constantly emphasised that there are two States and two peoples in Cyprus. Recalling that the belief of Türkeş was for TRNC to continue on its path in the Turkish world, President Tatar pointed out that recently the the Turkish President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, made a call to the Turkic states for steps to be taken to end the isolation imposed on the TRNC. 


THE IDEOLOGY OF ALPARSLAN TÜRKEŞ

President Tatar stated that the union of Turkic countries was a fundamental ideology of Alparslan Turkes,  and pointed out that a great power has emerged today with the rapprochement of motherland Turkey, TRNC and Turkic republics.  Reiterating that these ideas were put forward by Alparslan Turkes many years ago, the President emphasised that this demonstrates he was a politician with a great foresight.   President Tatar commemorated Alparslan Türkeş, the founder and late Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), and wishes for his soul to rest in peace.
