President Tufan Erhürman meeting with the Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Christodoulides has started in the UN buffer zone

The first meeting between President Tufan Erhürman and Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Christodoulides started at about 9.30am on Thursday, and is being held at the official residence of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of UNFICYP, Mr. Khassim Diagne.

Upon his arrival, President Erhürman was greeted at the entrance by Mr. Diagne, and the two paused briefly for the press. The meeting is expected to last approximately one hour.

President Erhürman is being accompanied by Presidential Undersecretary Mehmet Dânâ.

Ms. María Ángela Holguín, the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy, also participated in the meeting via videoconference.

Following the meeting, President Erhürman will hold a press conference at the Presidency at 11am and will answer questions from members of the press.
