Press Office responds to those who objected to President Ersin Tatar’s visit to London:

“President Ersin Tatar’s overseas visits and contacts cannot be prevented”

Presidential Press Office responding to those who oppose President Ersin Tatar's visits and contacts abroad states "President Tatar's overseas visits and contacts cannot be prevented".

The statement is as follows:

“Nowadays the Cyprus issue is entering a critical period and President Ersin Tatar attaches great importance to overseas visits and contacts in order to explain the new policy on Cyprus and the justification of the Turkish Cypriot people. However, it is quite thought-provoking that some parties object to these visits and contacts in an attempt to devalue them.

Whilst these parties were opposing President Tatar's participation in the meetings of the Organisation of Turkic States and his visit to earthquake zones in Türkiye, they are now opposing President Tatar's visit to London.

While the Greek Cypriot Administration is spending efforts to hinder President Tatar's London visit and contacts, which is organised as a result of great attention and efforts months ago, it is quite remarkable that some circles among us are against this visit and contacts.

While The Greek Cypriot Administration, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Greek Cypriot Embassy in England, the Greek Cypriot lobby and the diaspora are organising a massive attack campaign against President Tatar, who is in London, we are disappointed to see that some circles among us have taken advantage of certain events and carried out black propaganda and perception operations and they are trying to wear down  President Tatar. This is also very thought-provoking.

The newly elected Leader of the Greek Cypriot Administration Nikos Christodoulides, while making his first overseas visit to Greece, later visited Brussels. Hiding the facts of Cyprus during his contacts, Christodoulides continued his attempts to deceive the world public opinion. There is no doubt that he will maintain the same attitude and behavior in other overseas contacts he will organise in the coming days.

President Tatar, who is in London, explains the realities of Cyprus, our new policy and the rightfulness of our people to the parliamentarians, foreign media members and non-governmental organisations, and highlights the need to lift the unfair and inhuman embargoes imposed on our people. President Tatar will continue his overseas contacts and visits to voice our new policy and the rightfulness of our people and to inform the world public opinion, as he did before. The Greek Cypriot Administration and some circles within us will not be able to prevent this.

President Tatar will continue these visits and contacts with his love for his country and people. President Tatar is responsible for this significant task given to him by the people and is resolute to fulfill his responsibility. The 'irresponsible ones' are those who oppose President Tatar, who has spent great efforts to explain the cause and rightfulness of our people."
