Şehit Tuncer Primary School students organise  a cortege march to the Presidency on the occasion of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day

President Ersin Tatar, together with First Lady Sibel Tatar, received in the Presidency gardens, the children and  teachers from Şehit Tuncer Primary School on the occasion of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.

The meaning and importance of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day,  the founder of the Republic of Türkiye Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his principles and reforms, were underlined by children and teachers who made speeches marking the occassion.   

Meeting with the students in the garden, President Tatar expressed his happiness to see the students at the Presidency and celebrated this special day with the students.
 
“We trust our children”

President Tatar stated that  he and his wife Sibel Tatar had both graduated from Şehit Tuncer Primary School, and said: “This is a very important national celebration. We not only are celebrating children's day, we are also acknowledging the importance of sovereignty, freedom and independence in peace.”

President Tatar added: “you, our children, are our future. We trust you. You will one day be in positions of authority in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. You will have a direct role in the governing and running of our country. Our children must make use of the opportunities provided by the State.”

Pointing out the importance of friendships made during the early years in primary school, the President said: “The friendships you make at an early age in primary school is very important. These will be long-standing friendships that cannot be replaced. Primary school teachers also have a very special place in the hearts of people when they become adults and are remembered with love and affection.”

Expressing the importance of the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day gifted to the children by the Great Leader Atatürk, President Tatar underlined the importance of sovereignty and the necessity of protecting the State.
