Statement by President Ersin Tatar on the UN Personal Envoy

President Ersin Tatar approves the Personal Envoy candidate proposed by the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. President Tatar notified the Secretary-General of his approval last night.
 
Ms María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar, who has now been appointed as the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, has previously served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia and Permanent Representative to the UN amongst her other duties. 
 
In accordance with the agreement reached with the UN Secretary-General, the Personal Envoy will be appointed for a period not exceeding six months with the sole mandate to explore whether common ground exists or not between the two Sides in order to start new and formal negotiations.
