Statement by the Presidency

President Ersin Tatar chaired the Council of Ministers meeting within the framework of the authority given to him by the Constitution, received information about the issues on the agenda and conveyed his ideas to the government.

President Ersin Tatar expressed his belief that with the adoption of the 2023 Financial Year Budget Law Draft in the Supreme Assembly, both the financial revenues will increase and the public will be able to access the state services they deserve by continuing without interruption, and he stressed the importance of passing immediate enactment especially in our Parliament that foresees an increase in public finances.
Expressing his support for the regulations regarding the tax bases in favour of low-income employees, President Tatar shared his ideas with the cabinet members on taking the necessary steps so that the regulations in the tax bases will have direct effect on the benefit of  low-income group citizens working in the private sector.
 
At the meeting, President Ersin Tatar also stated that an effective and efficient public administration should be created by making use of today's digital opportunities.
At the meeting, where views were exchanged on the lands of martyrs, President Ersin Tatar underlined the importance of finishing off the activities carried out for the completion of the infrastructure deficiencies that have been going on for many years in the aforementioned lands and giving them to the beneficiaries.
 
Despite the substantial effects of the pandemic and the currency crisis on public finances, President Tatar pointed out that the state was kept afloat with the rational measures taken, taking into account scientific data and economic dynamics during his term as Prime Minister, and stated that the post-pandemic recovery still continues today and the President expressed his satisfaction over this.
 
Underlining the importance of cable electricity, social housing and social security issues that came to the agenda as a result of Prime Minister Ünal Üstel's meetings with the authorities of the Republic of Türkiye, President Tatar also stated in the meeting of the Council of Ministers, which he chaired, that after the municipal reform,  municipalities were restructured. He also pointed out the necessity of completing the deficient legislations in order to respond to the conditions and meet the expectations of the public immediately.
 
In the meeting, where he also made evaluations with the members of the government regarding the Cyprus problem, President Tatar highlighted that the new policy, which envisages a solution on the basis of sovereign equality and equal international status, has begun to bear fruits, and he reminded that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has gained the status of an observer member in the Organization of Turkish States. Pointing out that it is pleasing that Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu attended the 26th Meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Council of Ministers held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan as an observing member, President Tatar noted that it is gratifying that such contacts are progressing and noted that such contacts will increase over time.
 
At the meeting, evaluations were also made about the report submitted by the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to the UN Security Council on the UN Peacekeeping Force and Goodwill Mission.
 
At the meeting, where the developments in the Taksim Field and the attitude of the UN Peacekeeping Force were exchanged, President Tatar stated that the fact that the UN Peacekeeping Force has carried out its operations with the good will and tolerance of the Turkish Cypriot side should not be forgotten, and he called upon the UN Peace Forces to adopt a constructive and balanced stance based on the facts in the Turkish Cypriot community, to respect the vested rights of the Turkish Cypriot people and not to act against UN rules and principles. Reminding that the investments in the Taksim Field were realised after consultations with the UN, President Tatar reiterated that no concessions would be made in protecting and advancing the rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriot people in every platform.
